This is the first in a series of posts which discuss strategy from a variety of sometimes unexpected perspectives.
I am currently reading Sir Lawrence Freedman‘s book titled Strategy. In the first section of the book he discusses strategy from an evolutionary perspective. The fact the chimpanzees (as you can see in the video) can set an objective and develop and plan and execute to achieve it (strategic behavior) indicates that strategy has been hardwired into us.
Strategy then is a matter of survival, not only for organizations, but for us as humans. We are currently dealing with some wicked challenges such climate change and I wonder if evolution has prepared us to deal with such complexity.
More on the nature of the new wicked challenges that we are facing and how well prepared we are to face them in future posts.
